About

The bio

Steph Tisdell thought she’d be a lawyer before she became one of the brightest stars in Australian comedy, selling out award-winning live shows and notching up several viral sensations. A proud Ydinji woman, she delivers insights that challenge cultural stereotypes in a way that is hilarious, relatable and powerful.

Her debut solo show, Identity Steft, won the weekly award for best emerging talent at the 2018 Adelaide Fringe and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, while her second show, The Pyramid, took out the 2019 MICF John Pinder Award. As part of the Aboriginal All Stars line-up she sold out nights at the Edinburgh Fringe before heading to London’s Soho Theatre, earning acclaim as a powerhouse of First Nations comedy.

Her ever-growing list of acting credits includes Bump, Total Control, Class of ‘07 and The Deb, and her writing credits span Fisk, Bump and Rosehaven. In 2024 she added published author to her resume when her debut young adult novel The Skin I’m In was released through Pan Macmillan Australia.

Steph talks with endearing candour about mental health and body image, revels in oddball observations, and uses her platform to both educate and entertain. With a wit as sparkly as the mischievous glint in her eyes, she is, quite simply, a joy to watch.
