Since 1991, the Umbilical Brothers - Shane Dundas and David Collins - have delighted audiences around the world, twisting theatrical rules and everyday situations into comedy triumph. Time Out New York called them “Australia’s hottest export since Vegemite”.
From Hawaii to Tokyo and New York to Stockholm, audiences have laughed like idiots as the pair use the entire comedy spectrum - voice, mime, sound effects and sheer physical invention - to convey their craft in shows such as ‘Don’t Explain’, ‘Speedmouse’ and ‘Heaven by Storm’. ‘Don’t Explain’, in its incarnation as ‘Thwack!’, ran off-Broadway in New York for a year and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Most Unique Theatrical Entertainment.
The appeal of their work spans generations: children are enthralled by the physical comedy while the more complex material sails merrily over their heads. They have performed for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance, appeared on US television with their fan Robin Williams, and created the Emmy-winning children’s series The Upside Down Show.
Their many honours include a Helpmann Award for Best Comedy Performance, a Logie for Best Children’s Comedy, an Emmy for Best Title Design, the Grand Prix at the Singapore Comedy Festival and an MO Award for Best Comedy.

Anh Do is one of Australia's most inspiring success stories, though his journey has been far from easy. In 1980, at just three years old, he arrived in Australia on a crowded fishing boat with refugees fleeing war-torn Vietnam. After surviving pirate attacks, dehydration and harsh conditions at sea, the passengers spent time in a Malaysian refugee camp before Anh's family eventually settled in Sydney.
Determined to make the most of his opportunities, Anh showed an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. During school he ran a fish-breeding business, and later opened a retail store that expanded to four locations. Although he was close to finishing a double degree in Business and Law and had job offers from major law firms, Anh chose a different path - stand-up comedy.
